Health Matters

Health Matters
On May 14th, the best of Stanford Medicine will be open to the local public for one day only. Sign up to reserve your spot for the annual community health event, Health Matters.

Health Matters encourages attendees of all ages to expand their awareness of current health topics through health talks and an interactive health pavilion. Talks by 21 of Stanford Medicine's top physicians and faculty will inform listeners on topics including: Recharging the Brain, Mindfulness, Concussions, Stem Cells and Aging, and Pain Management. Each speaker will discuss health matters that affect the community and their families as well as brief attendees on cutting-edge medical research occurring at Stanford to combat relevant health issues. New this year to the event is a special Women's Track, a series of discussions designed with women in mind. Health Matters is partnering with the Stanford Women & Sex Differences in Medicine Center to bring attendees a series of panels throughout the day covering everything from heart health and stress reduction to women's cancer and sleep.

The event also includes an outdoor Health Pavilion containing a collection of exhibits that feature interactive, hands-on attractions and activities for the whole family. Visitors can climb aboard the Stanford Life Flight helicopter, learn about the New Stanford Hospital, watch healthy cooking demonstrations, play with cutting-edge robotic and 3-D technologies, cuddle up with canines from the Pet Assisted Wellness (PAWs) program, learn about emergency preparedness, participate in mini medical school, and get answers to health questions from a variety of Stanford experts.
