Morality - Patient' Self-determination

No matter how hard we try to control the treatment, diagnostic procedures or any medical plan; patients have the right to refuse or accept such patients. Because patients have discretionary rights, they still have to refute or accept treatment. For example, if the patient believes that the blood transfusion is wrong and he does not wish to have surgery, no matter how severe the surgery is, if the patient thinks the surgery is severe. It is right to reach agreement with the patient after giving all the pros and cons to him or her.

Different cultures have different behaviors and beliefs that seek health and are influenced by the existence of different cultures. As a health care provider, it is wise to master the basics of different people and cultural differences in order to learn more about their decisions in health care.

Health care providers face many dilemmas in terms of medical and nursing ethics. For example, a health care provider has his or her own bias into a health care facility that allows his or her opinion to agree or disagree with the patient's beliefs. Sometimes ethics must take over to protect patients. Rights rather than meeting the beliefs of healthcare providers.

Historically, there have been events that have contributed to the advancement of patient rights. During the Second World War, the Nazis made Jews their guinea pigs because they even studied with people without their permission.

Today, no medical researcher can conduct research without the consent of the subject. The consent should be signed by the subject but must be explained to him or her without the use of medical terms, but in a manner that is understood by people outside the medical field.

In the medical field, there are many aspects that need improvement. But it should not be at the expense of the patient who is used as a subject. While everyone must agree that research can actually produce knowledge that can revolutionize the way medicine is practiced and may provide new treatments for different diseases; ethics should remain the minds of medical researchers and medical practitioners.

From doctors to nurses; this is a conscious effort to do good for the patients in the hospital. With this in mind, it is ironic that we seek to improve practice while trampling on patient rights and using it as a test dummy.
