n and produce types of weaving which aresuperior to anything ever produced by the much vaunted Navajo. It is an interesting fact that the Hopi men no longer producea blanket for themselves, inasmuch as it is cheaper for them toexchange womens dresses or other products of their own loomswith the Navaho for the cheaper grade of blankets, whichadmirably serve their purposes. A complete collection of thetextiles worn by the Hopi comprises no less than twelvedifferent varieties of garments. They are also able to manu-facture from well-spun cotton string, both knitted leggings anda peculiar shaped cap, both to-day being confined to ceremonialuse. Weaving among the Navaho has received great attention;they not only manufacturenumerous kinds of blanketswhich may be found in prac-tically every part of thecivilized world, but in formertimes they produced from acloth introduced by the Span-ish traders and known asbay eta, splendid specimens ofweaving, which to-day arealmost priceless possessions;
