Book Promotion - 8 Ways to Use Blogs to Promote Books

Blogs are great book promotion tools for authors. Here are eight ideas for using blogs socially and interactively to enhance your author platform and engage readers:

1. Encourage readers to share your content with others.

It's easy for readers to share your content by adding a "Share" button to sites like "Share this" or "Add this". Then let the reader share by adding text at the end of the best post, for example: "Do you know someone might benefit from these tips? Social networking sites."

2. Actively solicit opinions.

Engage readers by including a sentence at the end of some posts to invite comments. Thanks to each reviewer and makes further comments based on what they say.

3. Post comments on other blogs.

Making insightful comments on relevant blogs is a good book promotion strategy. Comments can increase your visibility and create links and traffic to your website. Subscribe to popular blogs related to your book topic or audience and follow the posts you can comment on. Also, set up Google Alerts for your main keywords to stay on top of other related blog posts. Comments should be useful and relevant - be subtle when promoting your book.

4. Write guest posts for other blogs.

Another effective book promotion strategy is to contact other blogs to cater to your audience and provide guest articles. Includes short creatures and low resolution photos. Search for related blogs on Google Blog Search.

5. Create a feed for your blog.
RSS feeds allow your blog posts to be automatically sent to your visitors and other sites. By creating regular readers for your blog instead of relying on plug-in traffic, this is good for your book promotion. To create a feed, visit FeedBurner.

6. Be a virtual book tour from

 .

As part of your book promotion strategy, please show up on a blog, ezine or podcast to promote your book for a specific time frame - usually one to two weeks. Provide unique content to each host in your journey. Content can include interviews, how-to articles, book excerpts, videos, book reviews, or articles about how you can make plots or characters for a novel.

7. Join the blog carnival.

A blog carnival is a collection of links to specific topic blog posts or topics of interest to a particular group of people. Learn more at Blog Carnival.

8. Host a competition or paint on a blog.

Use the blog comment feature to hold the contest. For example, post a question and award the prize to the first person who left the comment and gave the correct answer. Or, write a blog post stating that everyone who comments on a post on a specific date [allowing five to seven days] will be entered into the drawing to win a free copy of your book. Promote contests on your social network.

Try these eight strategies to improve your book promotion.
